Aqua Reward Card: Gone for good???????

I just ditched my Aqua Reward and Amazon cards. There are much better card offerings on the market, unless you can't get them.0

For non Amex, is there better than 0.5% cashback?1

They did the same to me, cut credit limit, then I rang up and cancelled (he sounded like he'd been getting a few calls about it as there was no resistance and slight apology) then got a letter saying I'd cancelled which was great but then the next day got a letter saying they'd bumped up the interest rate!
I think they're slowly trying to move as many people as they can off the product as its losing them money and outside their core business now. Thanks

Yes, I am waiting for news of these secret offerings too, as I cannot find them in the UK.0 -

I had the same (well not cancelled, but limit cut to £400 and APR hike). They did the same to me, cut credit limit, then I rang up and cancelled (he sounded like he'd been getting a few calls about it as there was no resistance and slight apology) then got a letter saying I'd cancelled which was great but then the next day got a letter saying they'd bumped up the interest rate!

It's been with their senior complaints manager for months now. According to my DSAR, the system hiked me for "adverse", even though I had adverse at time of initially applying (and getting my limit put up to 2 grand) and it's not got any worse - if they're going to be picky about it, then with every day that passes my credit actually gets very slightly better!
I definitely think they're trying to get people off it or they've just massively tightened the scoring for it, so its doing crazy things like booting out all the existing customers/lowering limits.
This poor bloke is actually trying to help me though, I think I've kept on so much they thought they better look at putting the limit back up to what it was. So will be interesting to see what excuse they eventually come back with!0 -

When they cut my limit in half (with no underlying credit file changes) - I called up their cancellation department the same day and cancelled on the phone with them they seemed like they'd had a few calls to cancel and he was mildly apologetic. Then I got the cancellation letter confirming my call the next day and the day after that I got a letter saying they were putting my interest rates up!!
They were clearly making no money at all from the Reward product and now I think they're going to make life difficult for most people who are on it as it doesn't fit their core business model. Thanks

Like many others on this board I'm sure, I have that Amex cashback card. However, that doesn't give fee-free overseas spend and isn't universally accepted. Given that I've earned almost as much cashback on my Aqua as I have on the Amex this year, I'd have to say that for me if I could only have one I'd keep the Aqua.
As for the John Lewis card, it looks to be inferior to both unless you do a lot of shopping in Waitrose. Vouchers instead of cash and a 2.75% surcharge on foreign currency spend.0 -
There are other cards with commission-free purchases, like Nationwide Members card, Halifax Clarity...
There is no such thing like one perfect card, so having 2 or more makes sense.
Re. JL card - you don't need to shop in JL or Waitrose to get points0
