I'm currently with SSE on a dual fuel tariff that is due to expire on 10 May 2020. What date shall I start the switch please to avoid paying an exit fee to SSE.

Refer to your terms and conditions
But the default switching window starts 49 days before the expiry. You should also be advised of when this is by the suppier at the time. They have 7 days from the start to tell you.0 -
