When should a switch broadband provider

Hi, this being the first time I have a broadband/tv package on my name, I am not sure when exactly to set the provider switching process in motion.
I am currently on a 18 month contract with BT that includes Fiber, BT sport and free AMC(never yet watched 😁). That costs 39.99 per month and is due to end on the 25th of March. After that date the price will go up to over 65 a month which I dont want to pay.
I would like to switch to a new provider. So I guess my question is, when should I do the switch? From what I understand, switching broadband may take 2 weeks. so if I start the switch two weeks before BT ends there'll probably be ETCs? If I switch the day my contract ends I will have two weeks of higher price charge with BT and if I simply cancel BT the day the contract ends I will have no broadband for two weeks. Hope I'm making sense.Just trying to be clever about minimizing the costs.
Any advice appreciated. As mentioned new to broadband contracts.😕

Do not cancel as that can occur set up charges and loss of number.
ISP transfers are now gaining provider led . They do all the work .
You can contact BT retentions see if they will offer a better deal to keep you.
( i pay BT circa £38 pm for Line Rental + 80/20 BB + Max TV + BT Sport HD via negotiating .
Start your move around the first week in March .1
