From the blurb... "The property is just a short stroll from the train station" and "bear right over the bridge and take the next left turn into Back Lane signposted Wrayton. Proceed along Back Lane for approximately 2 miles to turn left and then left again to find Hobbit Cottage located through the wooden gate.".... Google maps suggest that it is a 1.7mile "stroll" to the station.Dandie89 said:I feel Bilbo should have sorted that roof out first https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/130164092

What this house demonstrates to me is our ridiculous planning system. I am willing to bet they only got planning permission by trying to hide the house in the hillside. I doubt they really wanted that and I bet if they had been allowed to build a normal above ground house, they would have preferred that.
Agreed internal finish is "minimum" painted block and surface conduit for electricals. It would not be what I would describe as a high end finish.0 -
Looks to me like they wanted 2 properties originally, maybe local planning would only agree to one.Dandie89 said:I feel Bilbo should have sorted that roof out first https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/130164092I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. It was always planned as one house but there have been some changes from the original application. On the original planning the outside toilet was a charging room for mobility scooters and the bedroom/study was a treatment room.silvercar said:

(Craven Council ref 2018/19124/FUL)
Considering it has only been there about 4 years it hasn't weathered well.

Too much work for me but I love it. It was nearly 500k back in 2017 (yes I did Google its history... 😂)Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....1 -
That's great, even with the alarming ceiling fail in pic 120

Spot the dog (twice)
Read the owner's tale of Sophia the Squirrel...
It's a weird one this, this is the narrow frontage that leads through to the actual house.
Looks like the owners of next door built it at the back.

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

I know 😂 , the previous details in 2017 show amazing landscaped gardens - the interior was still dated but at least had ceilings and a roof. Such a shame what 5 years can do....Martico said:That's great, even with the alarming ceiling fail in pic 12

Rotting timbers, signs of (possibly historic) structural movement, roof in need of urgent attention, etc. Needs a lot of money spent on it.Oh, and a repossession to boot.
