  • This one we actually viewed but decided it was far too big a renovation project for us. The photos only show part of the dreadful mould problem (back corner of picture 2, right side of picture 5, but it was far worse) and manage to hide the fully moth-eaten carpets and vegetation growing on the inside of the porch.

However the pine and green kitchen was amazing in a retro-kitsch way. It's a shame the agent hasn't included a photo of the oven as that was the stuff of dreams for someone to rip out and sell to hipsters. Kicking myself I didn't take one either. It was called something starting with Rota I think.

Another timewarp property https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-76771630.html. Complete with antimacassars - those bits of fabric that go on the back of chairs. You don't see these anymore in homes. Antimacassar is also the term for the arm coverings too.

Is that a serving hatch in pic 4? I do love a serving hatch. Reminds me of my childhood. :)

I really get where you're coming from about that house, especially the kitchen. That green is fab...:)

Reason for moving - not enough storage (hoarding) space.

Also lovely picnic area - right next to neighbour's bins.

Who’s that in the dining room?

I think it's a cross between Sir John Betjeman, and Paddington Does The Decorating.

Is bedroom 2 with the bay window the Fern Room or the Cannabis Room?
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

Rotisserie? :) they were rather popular at this time.

I love the cabinet in the lounge but worry what sort of fireplace it's hiding.

Ooh yes, might have been Rotisserie. It had some very cool dials.

We were told the (locked) cabinet was staying - ie that all house clearing that was going to be done had already been done so what remained would be our problem - so I was just as worried about what might be in it... Just think, maybe it contains secret piles of cash for the couple of £100k needed to do up the house!

Shame as I did actually really like the outside.

Oooh, go back! Go back! I have to know what's in the cabinet!! :D

And BTW, some clever person appears to have resurrected the original 'have a look at this' thread....

It has a sitting room and a lounge. I thought only hotels had lounges. (Or perhaps one room is for the U and the other for the non-U - I'm showing my age now.)

I'm always reminded of the scene from Bottom when someone says 'lounge'. Ritchie called it a 'drawing room' and they settled on 'colouring in room'.

Two people commuting in from only outside the M25 could easily be £3k/head for a season ticket...

    Yes, but they'd save 200k - that's a lot of 3ks.
