My 03 CRV was recalled for the passenger air bag issue.

It was MOT'd a couple of weeks previosly and I told them that I did not wish any inspection/work beyond the recall item.

Despite that, they told me they had a "duty of care" to check over the vehicle.

When I returned they said they had given it a "visual once over" and all was fine.

Recalls are an opportunity for MDs to take the pi55; all you need to do to avoid this is to be assertive. The alternative is to pay £36 for a wiper blade.

I agree with what you are saying. But the cost of any works associated with the recall is born by the manufacturer. They have to pay the main dealer to correct them. I agree that the dealers will also use it as an opportunity to sell something to you.
