What iPhone would you buy?
My poor wee SE is not doing very well. It's a 16g that was given to me after I dropped my 32g in the bath and, although I have offloaded almost every app and delete photos every second day, I'm slowly losing my mind over continuously running out of space.
I think it's time to bite the bullet and buy a new phone and have been reading so many reviews online my head is spinning. I have only ever had iPhone products and, while I know that there are probably better phones out there, I get frustrated when I use my husband's Samsung so I think I am a prisoner to Apple for life. (I also have a Macbook). I don't necessarily need top-of-the-range, but as I'll hopefully be keeping this for the next years at least, I do want:
If and iPhone aficionados are able to help me break through the noise of online reviews and tell me while phone I should buy, I would be eternally grateful.
Thanks in advance!

- something that takes good photos and movies (a priority)
- nothing too big (I have small hands, which is why I love my 5E)
- a headphone jack if possible (why would they get rid of this)
- good storage capacity (would need to be 32g or up as I take so many photos. Preferably 64g or 128g)
- good value for money (I just want a decent phone that I can use for calls, internet, watching the occasional video and taking lots of photos and movies that will last me a while)

If you could live with 32 GB then John Lewis have the iPhone 6S for £269 and I think you'd get £30 trade-in for your SE

Or £400 minus trade-in for a 128 GB 6s

Fully unlocked with two years' warranty.0 -
The above deal looks pretty good. It’s quite a lot extra for the slightly larger memory, so it depends if you’d manage on 32Gb really.
If you don’t mind buying refurbished then Amazon have the 64Gb 6S for £150

Or the 128Gb 7 for £194

I’ve bought renewed from Amazon recently, and the iPads I got seemed fine.0 -
Thanks coffeehound and Jonathan Kelvin - how is the camera quality on these? I'm essentially trying to get champagne cameras on a beer budget. Or at least know that what I am forking out is worth it for the best camera I can get at the price - and not just inflated prices because it's sparkly and new.0

I think the 6S camera is the same as the SE, so not a step upThe iPhone 6S features a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera, an upgrade from the 8-megapixel unit on previous models, as well as a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It can record 4K video, as well as 1080p video at 30, 60 and now 120 frames per second. The camera was well received by many critics of the phone. When the camera takes a 4K video recording, it can use the storage on the phone rapidly. The 16 gigabyte version of the phone was only capable of holding 40 min of 4K video.
Oh BTW the £400 one is the larger size 6S Plus model, not the ordinary 6S0 -
1 thing worth considering is that the SE and 6s may not get IOS 14 in September.
The iPhone 7 is a much better phone albeit no headphone jack but you do get used to that and the camera is excellent.
I would go for a used b grade one from CEX for around £230 which comes with a 2 year warranty.0 -
I say iPhone 7 too, not 6.
It is much better.
Not from CEX though, from Handtec at £134-99 for a good refurbished with 12 month warranty and Handtech are good, see Trustpilot reviews.
That is much more MSE.0 -

I’ve a seven for my work phone and it’s pretty nice. The refurbished ones from Amazon tend to be very good value, £400 gets you a X, which is pretty much as good as the latest top of the range 11 Pro.0 -
If you can hold out a little longer and like the SE, there are rumours (as yet unconfirmed) that Apple may be launching a newer version this spring. It'll be more than the ones you're looking at (although I'd go for a refurb 7 rather than a 6 because of the IOS updates) but it should keep you going for longer than the older models. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
If you have to upgrade, go for the 7, 6 is going to drop of the radar this year
The SE was a brilliant phone and I do hope they bring it back. Mine got killed unfortunately else Id have had it for years0
