Indeed ... installing a custom ROM often requires you to unlock the bootloader (as a minimum) ... this is what many banking apps look at when deciding whether to operate (or even install).

Yes they usually fail to work on rooted devices .

Thanks very much for the helpful replies.

I guess I will just carry on using the tablet for what it is convenient to me for and try to make the banking App work on a (slightly more up-to-date!) mobile phone.

Really appreciate the guidance.
