Samsung Galaxy S Tab - software update problems

Hello

Hope someone might be able to help please.

I have this tablet:

Samsung Galaxy S Tab SM-T705.

It has and still does suit me fine except I use a banking App (Atom) which has updated its App and is now "incompatible with my device".

The latest software on the Tab is Android 6.0.1. Atom tell me I need a minimum of 7.0.

I tried a manual update on the tablet but it tells me there are no more updates available.

Is there anything I can do do update the software to version 7.0? I'm not super technical - but able to follow simple instructions if anyone can help.

Many thx in advance.

that tablet is from 2014 which is old in tech terms

Have you not got a modern smart phone to run the app?

Most devices are now on Android 9 or 10 being the latest

There are no further Samsung updates for that model .
  • I wonder if you can do the online banking through the browser?
Manufacturers don’t tend to update tablets at all.

Android doesn't seem to keep tablets and phones updated for as long as Apple.
Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid

    Hi

Many thanks for the replies. I know it is pretty old but it does all I need it to for now - except for this Atom banking App.

Is there any way to "fudge" getting a new update - or wiping and reinstalling - that isn't too technical. I don't have anything much important stored on it and only use it for basic surfing, watching films etc.

Yes, I probably could try the smartphone for the App - although that's oldish tech too...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Unfortunately not, it is a limitation of the hardware.

The standard answers are as above, you're as up to date as Samsung will get you officially. At this stage we could suggest installing an unofficial ROM, but since all this is over a banking app, that app is unlikely to run on an unofficial ROM either, so I don't think it's worth the bother.

'Android' doesn't make devices. Samsung, in this case, is responsible.

Again, no. It's extremely likely there's a perfectly good ROM on XDA that OP would be perfectly happy with, we're only going from Android 6 to 7.

I knew I shouldn't have typed it that way, my apologies.

Custom ROMs are always a possibility but as you mention it may well not be the answer in this case.

But again, we're talking about a banking app. If it's sniffy about a not-that-old OS, it'll likely not appreciate a custom ROM.
