Capital One Credit Increases

in Credit cards
Had my Capital One classic card for around 4 years now. Started with a credit limit of 500 quid but over 3 years went up to £2500. I've not had an increase in the last year. Always managed my card well and paid balance in full every month. Is it maybe because they know I don't carry a balance month to month so don't really make money on me? Anyone had similar with Cap One? Just interested more than anything

Yeah, I got to about 2k over about 18 months, and it hasn't moved since.
I understand why, Cap1 have a very specific market now, which is 'credit builder'. Once you are able to get mainstream cards, most people move on. The days when they used to hand out 20k credit limits without blinking are long gone.
I've only left the account open as it is one of my longest financial relationships at 6+ years. Just put the Netflix subscription through it now, and pay it off monthly.0 -
Agree with the above, also they could possibly think that's the most you can afford (depending on your salary/debts etc).
I had a card with them that I got from very shortly after discharge from bankruptcy until up to a few months ago.
Quickly got up to £4k but it never got any higher. If I put a quote through for a new card (when I had my £4k limit) it would say you can't afford anymore - but if I cut the limit down on the old card by £200, they'd then give me another card (with £200 limit)0 -
Thanks for the replies guys. Yeah that makes sense. Was originally taken out to build/repair credit so it's done its job I guess. Been accepted for mainstream cards so guess I've hit the ceiling with Cap One0

I've had a Capital One card for the last 2 years - only had one limit increase about a year ago from £250 to £450. I don't use the card all that much these days since I have higher limits on other cards, but I keep it open since it is my oldest credit account on my files.0

I’ve just taken great delight in telling them to shove their crappy 200 limit where the sun doesn’t shine
I had the card over a year, cleared it in full and on time, and it got to the point where I could no longer use it as the limit wasn’t covering what I needed it for. Lightbulb moment came when they said ‘keep using it to pay for goods and services and we’ll consider looking at it again in 8 months’ like they were doing me a favour!
I promptly said I don’t know how you suggest I do that as I can’t use it for anything and if you think I’m keeping it for another 8 months think again. I promptly closed it!
I got a card with Marbles- okay the interest is higher but I don’t pay interest- who gave me over double the limit Capital One did (okay, it’s still only 450 but it’s more suitable for what I need it for)
OH has 6300 credit over two cardsI’m very jealous of him
he has real credit cards (MBNA and Barclaycard Platinum) His Clearscore pre approved offers are insane
cards I could only dream of
