Hello all, I have just recieved a debt recovery notice for a parking ticket not paid.
This is for the previous owner who has had no connection with our property for 15 years now.
Just a couple of things!.
1, How did they come up with our address, DVLA ?.
2, How far should I go to get this sorted out and him de-linked from our address?, will we have a 'marker" on our property?.
I have an excellent credit record (worked hard for it), and don't want it ruining by others!.
I have sent an email to the Debt Recovery clarifying the situation but I can see this dragging on!.
Any advice welcome.
Cheers, Keith.

Does this relate to a private parking ticket or council ticket ?
who is this debt recovery you talk about?
are the letters addressed to you?
your dealing with real enforcement then you will need to act to show that this is nothing to do with youFrom the Plain Language Commission:

Minster Baywatch, Debt Recovery Plus it says on letter?.
How have they got my address is the main thing, will see what they say?.0

Tell us who issued the letter first before anyone can advise on here
It will have no effect on you at all0

Debt collectors for parking companies don't affect credit files at all. Putting a marker on a property was stopped many years ago anyway.0

Return to sender marked not known at this address. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

The previous owner left 15 years ago?
Is there a vehicle reg mentioned on the letter? Would such reg relate to a car >15 years old? (The only way the OP could get a letter from DRP relating to the previous home owner would be if the car was >15 years old and was still registered to the OP's address).0

            Hello again.
The letter is addressed to previous owner of our house (15 years ago!). Letter was dated November 2019.
It has a registration listed (No of our previous or current vehicles). It was an 07 plate car mind but still not 15 years old..
Main thing is how they have come up with out address?. We had similar last year with the Police but that was easily dealt with.0

DRP letters will have no effect.
Return to sender wont make any difference, just bin them0

            @Brown Trout
It was issued by Debt Recovery Plus.0

If the debt crawler letter is not addressed to a current resident, then they did not "get your address". Somehow they got the address of a the previous house owner.
Perhaps the debt crawlers used a tracing service and got a last known address.
Perhaps the VRM on the letter is that of a vehicle someone has deliberately registered at your address for nefarious purposes.
 Perhaps it's an innocent mistake.
You could contact the DVLA and tell them what was happened. If the VRM is incorrectly linked to your address you might be able to ask them/their DPO to erase your personal data (the address) from their records.
As already mentioned above, you can send the letter back from whence it came, but I suggest you do this after you have contacted the DVLA.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.
