I run my aerial amplifier in the loft off one of the sockets in the landing. I had to just drill a hole in the ceiling and run the mains cable through. The cable has been discreetly fixed to the skirting board and up the architrave of a door so it is not noticed apart from between the top of the door and the ceiling.

You will need a length of mains cable with an extension block at one end and a 13amp at the other end. The only electrical expertise you need is no more than what you need for wiring a 13amp plug
  • Right, we seem to have (mostly) sorted it.

We tried the splitter - so getting rid of the twisty connections and doing it properly - and that made no difference. So tonight we bypassed the splitter, and connected the cable from the aerial directly to the cable running through to the lounge (with one of those male/female adapters) and now we get all channels on the lounge TV. However, doing the same for the study TV makes no difference and we can still only get 7 channels. Not too bothered, as we don't watch TV in the study anyway.....as long as the lounge TV works we are happy.

And on the plus (sort of) side, while poking and prodding around in the loft we have discovered a copper pipe that has started to leak, so we have now sorted that before it became a major problem.

This suggests that the cable to the study is far longer, or far worse, than the one to the lounge, so you need to look into that if you want more channels there.
