£131 for one new tyre?
Comments
-
So to recap you booked £122 for two new tyres to be fitted and paid £131.20 for one new tyre.
It's not illegal because you agreed in advance, just immoral and unethical (in my opinion anyway).
They wanted to lower their costs whilst finding ways to increase the price.Get there and am told that they only need to replace the one
Re-balancing existing tyres will have no effect on the rate of wearand can just re-balance it so they wear at same rate
You would only need that if all the other wheels were out of balance, there is no way they could know that. However each wheel must be removed for balancing and I would expect to see new weights attached after balancing, if not then it's un-likely they have done what you paid them for. However, I am then told that I need balancing on all wheels
No such thing as tyre alignment. Wheel alignment may have been necessary if the flat tyre happened suddenly or at speed etc but even then only required for the wheel which had the flat.and that I need to my tyres aligned
I would expect to pay around £40 at a local independent or someone like tyresonthedrive so had by about £91.20How bad have I been had?
1. Never go to quick fit againWhat can I do in this situation?
2. Tell everyone you know never to go to quick fit again
3. Reply to any questions about kwikfit on this forum telling everyone never to go to quick fit again0 -
I paid £120 for 3 tyres a few days ago! Local independent garage, been around for years.0

I use a mobile chap. He's a young lad who only started his business a couple of years ago. Not necessarily the cheapest - in fact, my local Toyota dealer recently undercut his pricing on supplying and fitting like-for-like tyres by around £10 a tyre - but he's a decent lad, can visit my home or workplace at reasonably short notice and I'm happy to give him my business in the hope he's successful and available for years to come. He's recently done a puncture repair for me for a tenner and a coffee.
Like everything in motoring or the home, if we don't use decent smaller businesses and tradespeople we'll eventually have no alternative to the shed chains and all the things that come with them.0
