£131 for one new tyre?

The price isnt actually that bad for the works done.
It wouldn't be a bad price if the work done was carried out to a good standard but if the timescales given by the Op are correct, there is no way that the work stated was even carried out.
Maybe an F1 pit crew could remove all of the wheels, balance them, refit them then carry out tracking in 3 minutes but there is no way that mechanics in a garage could do this.0 -
If it really was 3 minutes then there is no way they did all that work (ex tyre fitter) - it takes longer than that to set up the tracking gauges0

I remember phoning around for prices for a replacement catalytic converter on a Peugeot years ago.
Kwik Fit: 'That'll be £425 including fitting sir'
Me: 'National Tyres have just quoted me £210 for the same thing!'
Kwik Fit: 'In that case sir, we'll do it for £190'
Nice markup there then from the customers who would have just shrugged and paid the £425.0 -
So it wasn’t £131 for one tyre. You agreed to other work, based on “advice” you had previously been given, though it seems it may not have been required. Were your wheels out of alignment? An easy check given the wear patterns visible on the tyres.Mortgage free

Classic Kwik Fit rip off story. As already said, no way did they do it all in 3 minutes. They just took your money and did nothing.
I've never been back to a Kwik Fit since the time they did the BG44K emissions fail scam on an MOT. I got the £20 refunded from head office as admission of guilt.0 -
They didn't do the work. You should complain straight away. Balancing would involve taking the wheels off, checking and putting them back, etc. It takes time.
As I wrote previously, I get good treatment at my local Kwik Fit, however now they are banned from doing any work that doesn't involve selling something. So they can't change my winter/summer tyres any more and I don't want to do it off the books, because then no one will be responsible for actual work, if something happens.0 -
Get there and am told that they only need to replace the one tyre and can just rebalance it so they wear at same rate.
What? How does re-balancing a tyre somehow adjust wear rate? Did you have vibrations at speed?
They really are full of sh1te!
That probably meant that they actually only had 1 tyre that size in stock, but wanted to find other ways to extract similar money from you instead!!0 -
Write a letter of complaint to head office. You might get a small courtesy refund.
Some KwikFit branches aren't awful, but a lot areChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -

Opps sounds like they saw you coming unfortunately. You cannot complain if you have given them the go ahead to do the work. If they had done the work without your permission, thats a different story!
Complain online / over the phone to Kwik Fit customer services and they may send you a courtesy voucher / refund, but I do doubt it!0
