Claiming compensation for potentially dangerous electricity in my flat.

Plan
One do not believe multiple online sparks as you cannot diagnose that way .
Two pay a qualified electrician to produce a full report.
Three go via Small Claims Court for the damage if the electrician can proof your assertions .
But it may be worth visiting a solicitor or CAB office .
Stress see a Doctor .
What fault have EDF / UK power found in these five visits .0 -
What have they said "the issue" actually is? You need to clarify that before deciding who, if anyone, you can pursue.Johndole25 wrote: »No, but multiple online electricians have told me the issue is dangerous.0 -
Professional EDF electricians have come 4 time sin the year to diagnose, but the landlord keeps this information.
It was due to fuses. That's all I was told. this time when them come
The problem is that it took ages to get them out and is happening every month now.0 -
OP
You need to find out what the cause of the problem is before you can determine the most appropriate course of action including whether you may be due compensation for damaged equipment.
If the landlord is keeping the reuslts of previous tests from you, then the most appropriate solution would be for you to have a qualified electrician carry out an inspection for you and provide a suitable test report. I would expect this to be in the order of £400-600 plus VAT.
There is no point in you speaking to "online electricians" or the like. An inspection, including tests, of your electrical syste is required before any competent diagnosis can be given.
That said, there are duties on your landlord however I suspect they will not be particularly helpful for you:

Neither of which are your landlords fault. You only move is out and stop kvetchingJohndole25 wrote: »!....Because it's expensive to move and I'm not well currently.
What's my first move?{Signature removed by Forum Team - if you are not sure why we have removed your signature please contact the Forum Team}0 -
You quote me and then say that is my only move, when I said that's not doable.
I never said it was the landlords fault, I said I want to claim compensation from the electrical company for damaged goods.0 -
If the issue is with the wiring in the flat, then you would be looking for compensation from the landlord not the power company. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
If the issue is with the wiring in the flat, then you would be looking for compensation from the landlord not the power company.
And probably looking for a new place to live shortly after that, which would make moot his disinclination to move from what sounds like a death trap.
Life, what's the point...0 -
Fuses are not the cause of your stuff breaking .
As said you need an independent report otherwise this is all guesswork and rather pointless .0 -
sorry but if you are being told there are fuses causing faults please ask how and come back to us.
So are these fuses in a fuse box? If so then it is very old and probably it and the wiring need a proper inspection, at the least the fuse box needs replacing with a modern consumer unit.
If it is fuses in the plug tops then I would pay an electrician to replace the whole plug top, could be loose connection to wire or the spring clips are weak/corroded who knows.
No matter what it seems unlikely that fuses can cause damage to your equipment unless it is super sensitive to power breaks.0
