Speaking at a press conference from Downing Street, Johnson said that 405,000 people have signed up to act as NHS volunteers, following a request by Health Secretary Matt Hancock yesterday.
They will be driving medicines from pharmacies to patients, bringing patients home from hospital, and making regular phone calls to check on people who are in isolation.
“When we launched the appeal last night, we hoped to get 250,000 volunteers over a few days. But I can tell you that in just 24 hours, 405,000 people have responded to the call,” Johnson said.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak will unveil tomorrow a package of measures to help the self-employed, he added.
Testing for the virus continues to be scaled up, the prime minister said. Testing at hospitals is “working well,” with a total of 97,000 tests carried out so far, Chief Medical Officer for England Chris Whitty said. However, the government is struggling to purchase enough tests for the NHS and other critical workers because of a “global shortage,” he said.

Any predictions as to how long lock down will last?
This doesn't help those that haven't caught it yet, or don't get tested. Potentially there will be people in lock down until there is a vaccine.
QuoteA test to see whether someone has already had coronavirus is being developed, but will not be available within days, the UK government's chief medical adviser says."I do not think - and I want to be clear - that this is something we'll suddenly be ordering on the internet next week," Prof Chris Whitty said.An antibody test would let people find out if they had already had the virus. This could allow doctors and nurses with immunity to return to work.Earlier, Prof Sharon Peacock from Public Health England had told MPs that 3.5 million antibody tests had been bought and were already being evaluated.Once shown to be effective, she said "people will be able to order a test or go to Boots to have their finger-!!!!!! test done" in the "near future".But Prof Whitty said these tests hadn't yet been validated."The one thing that is worse than no test, is a bad test," he added.

This paper is long and complicated. If you want to try and get a handle of the time frame then have a look.

well every news site is saying China is worried about another flare up and are limiting foreign visitors, this shows there is no heard immunity
Hardly surprising that China has concerns still.1 -

Fingers crossed we are about to see a severe crash, ideally 50% down but even 20% would be very welcome.0
