Personally I despise claims companies, however what a ridiculous point to make... do you complain that Tesco doesn’t tell you you can shop at Asda?
With respect....it's not ridiculous and if I can quote directly from the FCA guidelines....
"tell you clearly about ombudsman schemes or any other official ways you can claim"
"prominently state if a claim can be made to a statutory ombudsman / compensation scheme without using a CMC and without incurring a fee"
"These rules are designed to help consumers make an informed choice whether to use the services of a CMC"I work in Data Protection and spend my days dealing with CMC's. Only here trying to help!!0 -

It truly amazes me how little effort people make before making sweeping and very incorrect statements.
If you had taken the time to peruse the t&cs you would’ve seen the following:
10.1 You do not have to enter in to
a contract with us. You can make
a claim yourself to the lender or to the FSCS (if the lender is no longer trading) and you could refer the claim to the FOS if you are not happy with the lender’s response. You could also instruct someone else, such
as a different claims management company, to make a claim on your behalf. If instead you choose to sign and return our letter of authority, you will have to pay any fees due as set out in these terms.
Aside from this, the OP is talking about a contract that was formed way before CMCs came under the regulations you have quoted.
But as I have already pointed out, I am no advocate of CMCs and feel they do very little if anything to warrant their fee, but ridiculous statements are just that... ridiculous!0 -

Maybe I could have done it myself but I never would have.0

You pretty much did do it yourself. You still had to provide the names of your lender, you still had to provide your complaint points, you may have even had to contact the lender directly to answer further questions.helpful tips
