I recieved a parking fine on a ukpc public car park in leeds. I was called into work for some emergency work at 21.43 and left at 02.38. I sent evidence of working for the company and they reduced charge as a gesture of good will to £15. I still didnt pay it and now got a debt recovery plus letter asking for £160! What do I do? Am I liable?
Welcome.
You need to read the NEWBIES thread first. My signature tells you where it is.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

UKPC are fraudsters, read this,
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6094779/ukpc-parking-charge
If the restaurant has a facebook/feedback page write bad stuff thereon.
Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP, it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and has been known to get the charge cancelled.
Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.
Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -

Firstly, UKPC are known fraudsters for faking time stamps.
DRP are timewasting nutters with no power and you do not owe £160
Debt Collectors (DRP & ZZPS) What they don't want you to know
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5859454/debt-collectors-drp-zzps-what-they-dont-want-you-to-know&highlight=debt+collectors+drp
UKPC are now trying to punish you for not paying £15 but have accepted you were working at the time, you have proven this.
Normally, we say ignore DRP but why not write to them saying that you understand their letter is meaningless and as they cannot collect monies from you, to pass it back to UKPC as a failed collection
PLUS:
1: Did UKPC instruct them to collect £160 ?
2: On what legal authority does DRP have to add unknown amounts
3: To pass your letter to UKPC as they are attemptng to extort monies from you
4: Request that UKPC cancel this charge immediately and confirm it in writing
Let's then see if they reply or what they will say.
UKPC would suffer a belt and braces spanking if it went to court0 -
Just a quick update with regards to the UKPC charge. I have finally heard from the Business Manager at McDonalds that the PCN has been cancelled! It just goes to show what a good customer complaint email can achieve! It pays to complain to the retailer/landowner!!!0

Bang! AND THE DIRT IS GONE!
If at first you don't succeed:I contacted McDonalds customer services who advised they would pass my email on to the manager. Once again they promised to cancel the fine, however they replied a few days later to advise they were unsuccessful and apparently it is now too late as the debt has been passed to DRP.Just a quick update with regards to the UKPC charge. Can you please add a link to this thread, in a reply telling everyone who cancelled this for you and which site it was about, in SUCCESSFUL COMPLAINTS ABOUT PPCs (linked in the 1st post of the NEWBIES thread)?
If you post there it will be seen long after this thread is archived/forgotten.
ALWAYS, ALWAYS COMPLAIN TO THE LANDOWNER/RETAILERS ABOUT PPCS.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Why companies like McD hold their customers in high contempt for the sake of a parking scammer like UKPC is beyond belief0
