UKPC Parking Charge

Hi,
I am hoping someone can advise.

I received a NTK back in November for overstaying at a McDonalds car park. I was a genuine customer and had my three children with me. Within a week I contacted the manager at the restaurant who agreed to cancel it. I very naively didnt take any details and took his word for it. A couple of weeks later the charge had doubled from £50 to £100. I contacted McDonalds customer services who advised they would pass my email on to the manager. Once again they promised to cancel the fine, however they replied a few days later to advise they were unsuccessful and apparently it is now too late as the debt has been passed to DRP.

Im really annoyed becuase I missed my chance to appeal with POPLA as I thought the manager would genuinely cancel this the first time around. I have since asked for the original email they said they would send but they are now ignoring me so it's looking like they probably never bothered in the first place.

I have also tried contacting mcdonalds via Twitter only to be told they are unable to cancel parking fines and to take it up with the issueing company.

I'm at a loss of what to do next and really dont want to sit around waiting for the next threatening letter to come through the post. Has anyone had any dealing with mcdonalds or UKPC?

    It is not a fine.

Contact the manager again and get something in writing about instructing the scammers to cancel.

Complain to the CEO as well.

Send a late appeal to the scammers using the template in blue text from post 1 of the NEWBIES.

Complain to your MP about this unregulated scam.

Ignore everything from now on except real court papers. Come back to this thread if that happens.

Ramp up the complaints as UKPC will sue you. Contact your local paper and MP.

  • Hi Fruitcake
Thank you for your reply. I have a feeling mcdonalds are just going to continue to ignore me!. I originally emailed paul.pomroy@uk.mcd.com who passed my email to customer services. I will try again.

Will an appeal letter to UKPC be accepted at this stage?

    Thanks for your help

Why are you asking that question? Send it and find out. What have you got to lose?

Email appealmoreinfo@ukparkingcontrol.com and tell them that McDonalds has tried to cancel this TWICE (well before it went to Debt Recovery Plus) but has been ignored and you are about to complain to your local MP and the CEO of McDonalds for this abject failure by UKPC to arrange a workable landowner cancellation system.

Copy in Gemma Dorans at the BPA as well:

    gemma.d@britishparking.co.uk

...and attach any proof from McD's (such as reply emails) that they tried to cancel it.

OH Boy, sick to death about the UKPC scammers. UKPC are known fraudsters .... why do Mcdonalds get involved with a scammer ?

You really need them to get to grips when they refer to DRP, they don't have a clue that DRP who are the biggest money bandit in the UK and 100% POWERLESS

It's a bit like buying a breakfast Mcmuffin where the egg is moldy and that has happened.

McD's are lying to you and you should take this up with the CEO

At the same time ask the CEO why he thinks it's a good idea to employ known scammers in his car parks

I did originally email Paul Pomroy, who then passed my email to customer services but after being ignored by everybody I will email him again! Thank you!

  • I recieved a parking fine on a ukpc public car park in leeds. I was called into work for some emergency work at 21.43 and left at 02.38. I sent evidence of working for the company and they reduced charge as a gesture of good will to £15. I still didnt pay it and now got a debt recovery plus letter asking for £160! What do I do? Am I liable?
