Top three scoring machines for reliability this year, according to Which?
Washing machines:
1 Neff
2 Zanussi
3 Bosh
Tumble dryers
1 Miele
2 Siemens
3 Bosh
Word of warning - don't confuse reliability with performance.
Interestingly, in the performance reviews the LG FH4G1BCS2 was the top washing machine and the LG RC9OU2AV3W was joint second best dryer. Bosch and Siemens models took the other places in the top 3 in both categories. The only Miele model they seem to have tested this time round is a washer dryer.
I like to wash bath towels at 60 degrees. I noticed that some of the newer machines don't allow you to run an easy care programme at 60, only 40 and below. I made sure that the one I bought (Siemens with a 5 year guarantee) did.
I won't entertain the automatic dosing systems on washing machines, because they use liquid. Liquid detergent will never keep your whites truly white and frequent use of it at low temperatures is bad for the machine as the residue builds up.
Did you see the Miele video?
In 14 years I haven't had an issue and the liquid isn't like 'liquid' detergent (gloopy) it is like water.
