The small amount of sodium ions added by the exchange is not a medical problem AFAIK (assuming that is what you meant).

No, I meant hard wate is tasty and drinkable and soft water is icky and horrible.

That is why most houses with a water filter (and I can accpect why they would want to for non drinking water) usually have a non filtered tap for drinking. Buyt for me even washing with soft water feels horrible. Put up, change the pipes and taps more often. Live with the luxury feeling water. (pripes really do not need chaning more often).

AFAIK, it's usually a separate tap for drinking water only.

The OP stated they were looking at replacing their original tap not fitting a new one just for filtered water. We bought a Franke sink with separate drinking water tap but didn't bother again after moving as our Samsung freezer had the ice and filtered cold water supply.

hi folks, this is driving me crazy, I'm not sure if tap filtered water is better...Brita have also come up with their own tap:
    BRITA Waterbar WD 3020

not sure which way to go..........

Wow! Just £230 and then £40 for each small cartridge or £67 for a big one? What a bargain!

    Sorry, couldn't help...

It can be a built-in separate tap (hot, cold and drinking in one tap) - like in the above Brita one.

In a country that probably has one of the best quality tap water supplies in the world, the producers of bottled water and filtered water have really pulled one of the biggest con jobs of all times (IMO of course).

The problem with cold water tap filters is all your cold sink water is filtered which you don't need.

    Absolute rubbish.

I have fitted a number of filtered cold water taps and they have two cold settings - one for mains water and one for filtered water.

    I agree completely.
Bottled water is the biggest marketing con of the 21st century. And we are now paying the terrible environmental price for it.

    I rest my case.

And I wonder how many you have actually fitted?
