Thanks for the link!
And thanks everyone for the replies.
I have filled in Britannia's online appeal form using the template text. It's not a convincing appeal but it hopefully means they won't go back to chase the car hire company.
I have emailed the car hire company to tell them not to pay the charge and to complain about their admin fee.
I have complained to the shop that the car park belongs to on social media.0 -
It's not meant to be convincing, and will most certainly fail. It's just going through the motions for the reasons already mentioned.I have filled in Britannia's online appeal form using the template text. It's not a convincing appeal but it hopefully means they won't go back to chase the car hire company.
I don't think you'll get anywhere with that, given the terms you signed up to. £42 is unreasonable, though, and quite unjustifiable.I have emailed the car hire company to tell them not to pay the charge and to complain about their admin fee.0 -
Yep, and as they have called it admin, yu can now get them to prove that they have really spent £42 worth of time. given the admin staff who process this are on £10 an hour and it takes 5 minutes, they may struggle...0

Interestingly it also seems you owned the vehicle when you hired it too.

The clause from the rental agreement includes charges as well as fines.

You're sort of right, but wrong as well.
It does indeed mention Charges but in this context I'd say its talking about Statutory Charges [of which the Dartfrod Crossing Charge is one]..
Tickets or letters from scumcos are no more charges than a letter from your bank or the local boy scouts or Virgin media is a Charge. Scumco letters are either invoices or requests for payments or whatever....they are not a staututory charge.
OF course the hireco muppet on minimum wage will not understand the difference....which is good news for you as it'll be an easy £250 once you issue court papers [easy peasy online]...0 -
A bit difficult for the OP to attend any court hearing though (if it went that far).

What UK address would they use as a correspondence address?
(Claims can't be corresponded to an Australian address). 0 -
1. The scumco will almost certainly [based on my experience] settle well before court.A bit difficult for the OP to attend any court hearing though (if it went that far).

(Claims can't be corresponded to an Australian address).
2. The OP can ask for the case to be decided on the 'papers' [provided they give the court and defendant enough [2 weeks??] notice]....the courts are quite open to that as it's quicker.
3. Address? Use the relative they were visiting, or they can use one of mine [maildrop address]0 -
After leaving some cross feedback on their social media I got round to sending Waitrose a polite email explaining the circumstances and asking them to cancel the "fine" and they said that they would! Thrifty have said they'll refund the "admin fee" if the "fine" is cancelled so happy days.1

Yay, perfect! So you just need an email from Britannia confirming the cancellation - or a screenshot of the webpage about your PCN?Thrifty have said they'll refund the "admin fee" if the "fine" is cancelled so happy days.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi,
I've received a Parking Charge Notice from Euro Car Parks for £60 if paid by 2/3/20 rising to £100 if paid after this date to 16/03/20 and if not paid by this date they will take court action. I was under the impression that there it was free for 2 hours, but my partner said it is only 1.5 hours, I was 1 hour and 47 minutes. There is advice on line not contact Euro Car Parks them at all and to ignore all letters from them, then your not admitting liability and Euro car parks should write this off. I obviously do not want any kind of court action to be taken against me. I read that only the police and council issue penalties and can take you to court but private companies like Euro Car parks cannot - so I really do not know what information I'm ready is correct.
Can anyone give advice??
Thanks0
