Tesco Current Account - When will it be back

Does Tesco often withdraw access to new application, I would love to sign up. Are they withdrawing from current accounts long term or short term only?

    They've done this before

Do you get club card points with spend? If I bought a tv of amazon with the debit card would I get points or is it purchases made at Tesco only?

Yes. You get 1 point per £8 spent

The last closure was because of heavy subscription, but this may because they are gradually withdrawing from banking.

You get bonus points for any Tesco spend, in addition to a smaller amount of points for spending made at other retailers.

No idea if the current account opening restrictions are temporary or not - you may need to contact them and ask.

I have the Tesco current account and whilst I shop there too (groceries) I'll continue with them. Have the Tesco mobile too x 2 sim only so get points with that, it's worthwhile. I only keep enough in my account to pay for groceries since they dropped the interest rate.

Worth noting if you buy anything else with your Tesco debit card (other retailers) you only get a measly 1 pt per £8 spend, that's on each transaction, so spend say only £7.99 you get nowt.

So to me only worth having a Tesco account if you shop there too and of course have the Clubcard.

You also get 2 Clubcard points for each pound spent in Tesco petrol stations, which is the main reason I kept my Tesco account after they dropped the interest rate. I redeem the resultant Clubcard vouchers towards future petrol purchases, so it's effectively 2% off all Tesco fuel.

Is that 2 Tesco Bank points plus the normal 1 you'd get anyway or is it 1 & 1?
If so then it's effectively only 1% off rather than 2%

You normally only get 1 normal clubcard point for each £2 spent on fuel.

Using a Tesco debit card boosts this to 1 normal point for each £1 spent, and also gives an additional Tesco Bank point for each £1 spent. So it's effectively 1.5% extra off.

An £800 TV bought would get you 100 points, a point is equivalent to 1p, so spend £800 to get £1, hmm...
