MBNA PPI rejection letter January 2020

Hello,

I took out a credit card with mbna in March 2000 and it had ppi attached from day one.
I applied for a ppi refund in August 2019 and received several letters since telling me they were still dealing with my claim.
On Saturday past I received a phone call from mbna who wanted to confirm with me when I took out the credit card, what my employment status was and what is my current address. They told me the date it was taken out and informed me that ppi was set up on the application.
I was working onboard a ferry In March 2000 and mbna reps came onboard for a return trip with the purpose of selling credit cards to customers and staff, we were pestered by them on both journeys while working and while on our break in the staff canteen, which they also used. In the end myself and others gave in and signed up for a credit card to get them away from us.
Today I received a rejection decision letter which mentions that they ‘contacted me via letter’ offering me the chance to complain about missold ppi in 2013, I can honestly say I did not receive any letter regarding this from mbna or any other company.
They also state that as it was also more than 6 years since I first took out my credit card that I had plenty of time to complain about the ppi.

The letter also refers to undisclosed high commission (Plevin)
It says that they are upholding this part of my complaint.

It then lists some figures and states a payment will be made within 28 days. It is not clear exactly how much they are refunding as there is not a clear end figure shown.

I have seen other posts regarding this but have not seen any updates with any further details regarding a complaint to the fos.

Should I now pass this on to the fos ? And has anyone passed on there rejection from mbna to the fos and been successful?

Many thanks

FOS cannot overturn a properly applied time-bar and will accept the Bank's record of having sent you a CCL letter in 2013 over your protestations that you didn't receive it. The only exception to this might be if you had moved house in 2013 without telling the Bank of your change of address.

To be honest, your reason for complaint is very weak if all you told them was that you signed up to the credit card and PPI because they were "pestering" you. If you were cajoled so badly, why did you then go on to use the credit card instead of cancelling it at an early opportunity?

Regardless, the time-bar means your complaint has not even been considered but you do have the consolation of a Plevin refund of undisclosed commission.

I can't see the Bank's letter not stating exactly what the refund amount will be, but if not then you should seek clarification from them.

I had 3 cards with mbna, I received the full ppi refund with interest for one and the other two came back with  cheques (£1300 and £530)  and a letter saying they contacted me in 2013..... so it's weird why one was approved and the other two were not.
I was not living at the address at the time they allegedly sent the letter (I have just recently found this out).  Now I have to find something with my new address on it dated 2013 and email it to them for them to look again at my claim. I don't keep bills or statements so I don't think I will be able to provide this for them.
