    we lost a magnetic L plate from the bonnet whilst driving, it slid up a bit and then flipped over the top + left a feint scratch mark on the black paintwork probably due to the car not being clean.

    I had some of those super strong mini magnets on the fridge so we used those on the next lot and they were fine. Always removed them after each drive though to prevent theft.

    Perhaps a more relevant reason to remove them regularly is that it's just as illegal for a full licence holder to drive with them as it is for a provisional holder to drive without them...
  • When my kids were learning to drive, I lost several magnetic L plates when driving above 50mph.

    What's the offence committed by a full licence holder?

    I'm afraid it's not, or every driving instructor would be breaking the law. The HC recommends their removal (except for driving school vehicles), but it's not law.
