Back in my (parent's) old house (built late 60s / early 70s) the washing machine had both hot and cold feeds - and the washing machine itself used both feeds. I can't say though whether my Dad ran in the hot feed specifically for the machine, or whether the setup was like that when we moved in ... I was a teenager and didn't care about things like that. :)

The reason I know the above is that I later bought the house and fitted a new machine ... which only required a cold feed.

First mistake the OP made was going to Curry's, second was trusting their goons to install something without watching them closely to make sure it was done correctly.

So the bloke came out and made a report but didn't actually connect the right feed for you? This would take about a minute.
For what it's worth, we had the installer from a Big Name Retailer being a jobsworth like that. Our dishwasher needed an extension hose on the drain pipe and installer said no. (The kitchen fitters our housing association landlord had contracted came back and sorted it for us).

So yes, I can believe that he would visit, see the fault, and not fix it.

He then wrote a report stating the appliance was "faulty" and blamed the manufacturer?

    ...

I think you've misread the OP(?). They didn't say that the person who came to look at it didn't fix it.

And it's not that person who is blaming the manufacturer - it's Currys customer service doing that.

Have I read it completely wrongly?

Has the OP claimed they didn't?

    Hi,

I thought all new machines were cold fill, on the blue connection?
