Rd button teletext replacement via smart tv?

5.8K Posts

Dad has got a standard TV but he does have internet access. Never uses it. (It was cheaper to get as part of a bundle so he could get BT sport).
Anyway, as you know red button/teletext is ending soon.
He uses it constantly for sport updates, horse racing results etc. Is there any way via smart tv (ideally something cheaper than buying a new tv) to get similar. He doesnt need streaming or tv just access to, for instance, bt sport website. Got to be VERY easy to use as well.

Current TV is NOT a smart TV....
Remind me - does that have an app like BBC sport?
He doesnt need streaming or TV channels just some way to replicate teletext.
You're going to be out of luck I think as the feature isn't replicated elsewhere.
A mobile phone connected to Wifi might be the next best thing.
“Viewers can still access this information on the BBC website, BBC News and Sport mobile apps – as well as 24-hour news on the BBC News channel.”
You could also put other TV services on it, and the BBC Sport channel is my Go-to for regular checks on sport teams I follow. Not cheap, but a clear 10" screen and best VFM:

a much bigger hammer.
