Parking fine at Lamorna

Hi
We went to Lamorna Cove for a nice walk.
When we got to the car park we drove to the end and there was no car park sign by us. So I went back down the road to the entrance to go and read the sign.
Realising I needed the number plate and that I needed change I went back to the car.
We spent some time trying to locate change, I went back to the machine and did have to go back to the car to check the number plate as it needed it and I didn’t want to get it wrong. We paid and then enjoyed our walk.
The car is a lease car and we only got the letter 10 days after the issue stating we hadn’t paid at all.
We haven’t actually received the letter from Premier park ltd yet. Just the lease company.
After reading threads and what to send as a newbie I am not sure what exactly to do as the lease company say they have sent the drivers details and do we need to add that we did pay. We are over on the time we paid for but that was because it did take. While working out paying. We also don’t have the ticket anymore.

How do they know who was driving? They sent the lessee's details. At the bottom of the NEWBIE sticky (which of course you have read) are some ready written appeals for hire/lease/company car written by Edna Basher. Just use the most appropriate oneCountrysidegirl wrote: »Hi

I keep scrolling through it all and can’t locate that part. I had read about it at the top of the post and kept trying to find the relevant part but haven’t found it still.0

Um ..... this is the heading in the Newbies':
* COMPANY, LEASE OR HIRE CARS ANYWHERE IN THE UK
The three appeals are actually accessed via links. So you look for the 3 links.0 -
Thank you. I have found them and had a read through now. So thank you. I am just confused whether we add in that we have actually paid as the posts just refer mainly to the fact of the hand over of details from the lease company.
Thanks in advance0 -
You can add in additional information if you like BUT do not refer to "I" bought a ticket, just something like "an occupant of the car bought a ticket" or "a valid ticket was purchased" It will make little difference anyway as they are likely to reject your appeal as they do to nearly everyone.Countrysidegirl wrote: »Thank you. Yep, you are after a POPLA code. That's when you get to write a fun 'hire car' POPLA appeal. The reason it actually can be sort-of-fun is that hire car POPLA appeals have such a high success rate if done carefully. There's a 'formula' developed on this forum for hire car cases. Have a read around till you get the picture.0 -
Brilliant, thank you. This will be done today. On some posts I have read it’s recommended complaining to the caf! owner first about the situation.
Do you recommend this or send the letter of appeal first?
Thank you in advance0 -
Do both. the order here doesnt matter, but you do want to have tried landowner cancellaiton prior to POPLA for sure.0

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP., it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and in some cases, cancellation.
Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.
Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -

And check out the last post on this thread:

Not convinced that a visit in person is essential! Search for 'Lamorna' yourself, there may be other examples of landowner cancellations there.0
