Exit 3, maybe also exit 4 if there's 2 lanes on the exit.

    There is 2 lanes to exit on 2, 3 & 4 (I think).

So what’s the right hand lane for, exit 4 as well?
Because exit 5 is people coming back on themselves.

18 posts and no one has been able to tell me what exit means using the middle lane on the approach.
I told you in post #4.
Read rule 186. The answer is “It depends ...”
Is the middle lane left, right or centre?

The middle lane is always the centre, that’s what middle means.

Bear in mind that (a) people will move between lanes as they progress round, and (b) there are direction arrows both on the approach roads and on the roundabout itself.

    (c) Most large roundabouts could be improved by changing to a spiral lane layout.

Go to the government link that Adrian DoaM gave. As several people here have explained it is relevant.

We only knew the full details from your post #11. A Google Maps link would have sped you up.

So, A2011 from the M23. There are 3 lanes. All go 'straight on', left one also goes left.

If you want to go south on Hazelwick Ave, you take the left lane.
If you want A2004, you take the middle lane.
Middle lane also works for A2011 on the other side. Right lane might also work if you know the junction.
For Gatwick Road, I'd be in the right lane, if I didn't know the road, middle might also work.

I don't see a sign to tell you the lanes, which would also help an unfamiliar driver.

So you think middle lane for the second exit, which is about 10 or 11 o’clock on a clock face. That’s the one I use the most.

Yep. Me, most posters in the thread, the road markings on the roundabout, and the Highway Code are all in agreement. I wouldn't be surprised if you encounter people in the right hand lane, wanting to go straight on, though.
