No Child Benefit = no pension credits ?

How old was the child at the time when the benefit was stopped? I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that receiving Child Benefit only entitles you to National Insurance credits until the child is aged 12 so they might not have missed out on anything at all.

You need to be clear. Not receiving CB does not mean not getting the credits. Not having a claim for CB does mean not getting the credits. As previously explained you can have a claim but choose not to receive it.

There ha# been much criticism of HMRCs handling of the CB higher income tax charge ever since a George Osborne introduced it. HMRC were bad at explaining to claimants the consequences of closing the claim.

Additional point to note is that credits are only applied until child is 12 as LilElvis says.
