county court legal action threatened... please read!

Hi all,
I received a letter today stating that I was "parked in contravention" in April 2016.
I have no knowledge of this had have received nothing prior; no tickets, nothing through the post NOTHING and in fact I have had two cars since then and have changed address. I know the location and had possibly parked down the road but no signage was present due to it being a gravel track road whilst I posted a letter.
The legal company was aparantly instructed by the parking company to "commence legal action" and that I could face "county court" for the debt of £160 and I have 1 month to respond/pay before it goes to county court without further notice!
What should I do? I feel I should not contact the company as they will then assume that I am liable?
Thanks.

ABUSE OF PROCESS

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP, it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and has been known to get the charge cancelled.
Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.
Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0
