Jaguar car

Options
Hi,

I am Looking for some advice!

My wing mirror was clipped by another car the driver stopped so I got there details. Phoned my insurance company who have agreed it’s not my fault all cost will be claimed against the person that hit me. So today I took my car into the Jaguar garage for the estimate to be done, the estimate was done they phoned me to tell me the price and said I have to pay upfront for the repairs and then claim it back off the insurance company, this was never mentioned when I phoned them to arrange to bring it in or when I dropped the car off I even left my insurance detail with the person to liaise directly with the insurance company. Phoned my insurance company who said they have never dealt in this way. Has anyone every had this before?

After I had a no fault acident, it was my insurance company that told me when and where to take my car for repair.
  • They asked me were I wanted to take it I said Jaguar they said it was fine. Book it in for a quote.

Did the insurance company tell you to take it to Jaguar?

They may have an arrangement with a particular bodyshop to do the repair so usually tell you where it needs to go.
  • they just said we’re do you want it to Jaguar , it’s not the insurance company disputing it it’s the car garage who say I have to pay up front the insurance company is happy to use Jaguar as all money will be claimed from the person who hit me

The insurance wanted a quote. Now you have a quote. Next book it in and the insurance pays.
  • That what I was told but Jaguar are now saying different. I was just wondering if this is normal

How much was the quote and what's your excess?
  • The quote was £850 and my excess is £300. I am not liable for any charges my insurance have confirmed, As it’s a no fault accident,
  • Is £300 the total excess or your voluntary excess on top of the compulsory one?

Now you have a quote, go back to the third party insurer and ask them what you should do next.
  • Take it some where else.
