I think I'm absolutely dumfounded (and happy for you), that you have reached the age you can learn to drive and pass your test without realising that the world is absolutely jam packed with ashholes like this.
TBF, the isolation of a steel exoskeleton does seem to bring it out in a greater proportion of people.

Middle-aged + baseball cap means he's potentially an idiot, obscene gestures whilst driving proves it.

We are surrounded by drivers who shouldn't be allowed a license and wouldn't have one if there was also an 'aptitude to driving in public' part of the test.

Remember that EVERYbody has proven to a driving test examiner that they can drive competently and considerately...

But they only have to drive competently and considerably once.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Micheal McIntyre got it right when he said driving is one of the rare times you get to observe an idiot. I suspect the van driver thought you were an idiot. Only you (hopefully) know if that's justified or not.

Not good on the part of the van man, but unfortunately the poor bleeder has probably been given a totally impossible schedule by some great corporation.

Ignore, carry on behaving politely and doing your best.

Just ignore them and laugh it off (after they gone though).

He was probably one of those drivers who never make a mistake, and if someone else does likes to let them know. Fortunately the only person who agrees with them is them.

I had one the other day beeped to let a young lady know she was about to turn into the wrong side of a carriageway, she thanked me by giving me a hand gesture suggesting I may go blind.

Probably has a single earring too.

Best to give these idiots as wide a berth as possible. While they think they never make a mistake, their rage makes them miss something that may cause a collision.
