Changing from LPG Bottles to Oil

Options
Hi there, I can find lots of advice regarding switching from Oil to LPG gas, but can't seem to find anything for switching the other way, i.e from LPG Gas to oil. We are looking to purchase a rural, character property that currently uses LPG Gas Bottles for heating system. We have explored the option of installing an LPG Tank, which we understand would be a cheaper option, but we have been advised that this would not be possible due to the requirements for the driver to have line of sight when refilling the tank. The only other feasible option for us would therefore be to install an oil tank. Has anyone on here done this and, if so, would you be able to provide a rough estimation of cost? Thank you.

    £1 - 3K for the tank.
    £1 - 2K for the boiler.
    Bit of pipework.

Check you have space that complies:

We had this issue in 2010 (?) and ended up with an underground tank which ticked all the boxes.
    Have you investigated that?

One big problem with LPG is the tank isn't actually yours so if you want to switch from say Calor to Plus Gas they will expect you to pay for the tank(and the cost of originally installing it), the new supplier may want you to pay if you decide to switch again.
Far less stress using oil, buy your own tank 1800L is a good size for the average home as the more you order in one shot the better the price. Also you aren't tied to one supplier so you can play them against each other to get the best price per litre, there are even local fuel clubs who buy together in a local area and that makes a big difference to both delivery cost and if say 10 of you are buying 1000L each, a load of 10,000L will give you a big saving.

To the OP, keep a couple of 19K tanks for a gas hob, very economical!

Err, I'm not too sure about that.

I've had LPG since 1983 and have transferred between 5 different suppliers in that time. On each occasion the new supplier has taken over the tank. Whether or not any money changed hands I do not know, but it has cost me nothing.

I know that underground tanks can present a bit of a problem, but I do know of someone in our village who successfully transferred their u/g tank from one supplier to another.

I currently pay 33ppl, which at current oil prices is probably on a par in terms of price per kWh.

With our underground tank (we've now sold the property) we swapped from Calor to Avanti, then to Woldlink and finally to a local supplier without charges
