My email is the same as it's been since I joined, but for the life of me I can't remember my password. I usually stay logged in but if for some reason I have to log in, my password is automatically remembered.

How do I guarantee that I will be able to log in after the move, if my old password won't work, when you need to use the 'old' password to change to a new one?

I'm wary of logging out just in case the system won't let me back in.

Thank you.

All of us will need to make a new password up when the site moves platform.

As long as your email address is correct you set a new one (or do the forgot password click, then set a new password).

None of the passwords are transferring over.

There is a thread somewhere about it.

The browsers which remember passwords have in their settings pages a way to show you the saved passwords.

If you received the MSE email about the change, that should let you in. After the forum change you'll need to give that email address to request a new password. That should send you an email to get you in and set the password you want.

Look up the password in your browser and then try to log in with a different browser brand using that. That lets you verify without logging out.

But in the browsers that remember logins the saved details will be filled out for you on the login screen even if you were logged out, so just logging out wouldn't prevent you from logging in again using the saved password.

or wait until the new platform, and you will be invited to set a new password then

You do not need to know the current password in either case.
