  • Looks really good Chanie, very Christmassy
Katiehound many thanks for the cards u send, they are lovely
i always plan to be ready for 1st Dec, I never am. The mental block has been sorting out the 21st birthday present for friend’s son. The components have just sat on the side. Today I was determined to get it sorted so I can send it tomorrow. I’ve also had an extra parcel to send. Got that sorted easily. That will just leave me with one parcel to send. Have almost wrapped all the bits but I’m not rushing as I want to enjoy the run up to Christmas.
Christmas ham and beef are in with stocks of veges, so just need a few small top up shops.
Have really enjoyed the tree this year, Will definitely put it in the same space next year. Was abit of a test this year.

another two JL cards to come yet! I just keep sending them as they are both delightful and tuneful (and I could really send them every day of the year- it's an annual subscription.). Certainly something to cheer folk this year!!

Not sure yet if I will even go out for lunch....... that's kind of a query now. 2020 has surely been a year to remember.

Still making pressies and doggy duvets.
I emptied the collecting boxes this past week- £160 for Dogs for Good. I actually think one had a lot of the donations rather than purchased duvtes. The other would = about 20 duvets! no wonder I am getting a teeny bit tired of them- but the human duvets & fabric keeps coming, and it looks as if dogs are still needing a bed.

    Take care folks

  • Katiehound well done on the monies raised. What a great amount
Chanie I can vouch for the cards, they are lovely
With Wales going into full lockdown early, plans changed. So did a socially distanced drop off of presents today, earlier than planned. We are going to save the friends get together until it is safe to do so.
Going to do another present drop off on Tuesday. The strange thing about this year is I am so much more organised.
Just one present left to send but not rushing with this one. Where it is going, they will be equally happy to get a parcel after Christmas, esp with the pictures of all the sorting offices struggling.
Have been listening to the radio a lot and getting into the Christmas mood. So far I am okay for Christmas Day, but the way things are going u just don’t know!!

Today I bought hot water bottles for shoebox 2021 appeal! I think I now have 6. Either they haven't had huge stocks or they are selling out as I bought all that were there both this time and about a month ago.
I plan to do 8 boxes: 6 elderly + 2 family. I gave away lots of family bits to a friend & area collector as there is a limit to how many wooden taxis are needed! I bought them for 25 pence instead of £1 several years ago.
    I don't really intend to do 11 as this year...but we'll see!

Christmas day lunch has been cancelled and the dogs won't get their walk that day as my runner is working. They will not be impressed!! In which case I will be trudging round the streets.......

  • Katiehound -have u got a Christmas lunch to go to? Being in Wales I checked that I could go to my family bubble on Christmas day but it’s only on that day. Don’t mind really as I have to travel.
I’ve been good and haven’t watched films I am desperate to watch, which I’ve saved as a Boxing Day treat. That is my Christmas weekend planned, plus cold cuts.....and no hassle  esp as I’m getting over a head cold.
I was organised but the head cold has thrown me abit. Going to do a couple of socially distanced drop offs today as didn’t feel well enough yesterday.
Ive managed to find some hotties with Asd@. Magnifying glasses although I had to bulk buy them, (will last me about 3 years) worked out much cheaper at 50p and the same with the work gloves aswell. I think I will do more elderly boxes again and aim to start as soon as I have my first box.

if I don’t get on again, have a lovely Christmas everyone x

No, no lunch as we have decided to keep our heads below the parapet! We know there are some cases locally- so staying home! Never mind, the chicken-en-croute will be fine with pigs in blankets and maybe stuffing. I have been given cake & puddings and a pork pie.
    I will not starve!!
Christmas will be different that's for sure.
My friend in London was cooking a very quick Christmas cake at the weekend since they were due to be away for the 5 days!

Have a great time, whatever you are doing.

  • Merry Christmas Katiehound and all the thread
One thing I have found is less pressure this year. Bec we are all limited to what we can do, I have just took my time, no rushing around. I still got everything done but had more time. There were no food shortages or queues in the supermarket, just went much later, nice relaxed environment and a few extra foodie bargains stashed away. Staff friendly and helpful while everyone staying socially distanced.
one parcel left to send but I know they will be equally appreciative of it post Christmas.
Definitely learnt a lesson this year of out of the bad, there can be still be some good.

Merry Christmas to you all, I hope you had a nice day and Xmas prep made it a nice day.

Me and OH were up until the early hours of Xmas morning putting together a dressing table for DD, as we didn’t have anywhere to store it made up.  We also had to wrap stocking fillers.  I’ve decided to wrap as I go along as much as possible next year. The problem now, is that many shops have sold out of wrapping paper.  On Xmas eve, I went to Sainsbury’s, Poundland, Aldi and Lidl and none had any in stock.  My Dsis also said the same.  I normally buy wrapping paper from Sainsbury’s when it gets reduced to 50p a roll and 3for2, but I don’t suppose I’ll get any this year.  I still have a stash from previous year,ms, so I’ll be able to make a start on the wrapping.
im also now having to self isolate because I’ve been in contact with someone with covid, so I can’t go out for a couple more days.
  • Chanie i hope everything is okay and u haven’t had any symptoms.
I remember those days well of setting up things late at night, but definately don’t miss them! Did u manage to wrap the bear?
Had a really nice day. Left Wales for one day, stuck to the rules but still had a great day. The only thing with the travelling is it made for a long day. I was shattered Boxing Day.
Went out for a couple of bits this morning as one of the cats was poorly, so needed to stock up on a brand that doesn’t make her ill.
Got a load of small items for the charity auction and when I went for cat litter I got quite a few half price alcohol sets, one I was particularly after.
Chanie have u tried Asda?. Even though I’ve got a lot of paper, picked up two rolls of Christmas superheroes.
Just need to pop everything away now
Hope everyone had a good Christmas
