The roof has been fixed - £600 lighter for the privilege

Next job is sorting the damaged plaster in the bedroom under the leak.

I'm also now scaring myself silly with the potential costings of a loft conversion to go along with the new roof, mainly because I have no idea whether we would pass affordability for a mortgage extension/loan, and the lack of funds would rather scupper any ability to replace the roof for at least several years. I think I need to put it away for another day.

£12 from the spare change pot has been moved into the OP acc. It's a very tiny baby step, but it feels good!

No glasses needed for Big Small. Medium Small needed new ones but, bless him, chose ones that did not require extra funding on top of the value of his NHS voucher, even though I reassured him that he could spend more if he really liked the specs. My eye test is on Friday. Fingers crossed my prescription has stayed the same and I won't need new ones as well!

You were not alone on the mortgage rate changes... 😢

Great news on the roof repairs though!

Thanks both  I won't kick myself too hard, I promise

I am indeed looking forward - much healthier. Starting with a new client at the end of the week, which I am excited about.

Considering signing up with Prolific; interested to hear any feedback on them?

Also started reading the matched betting forum and when they say you need to read it multiple times they aren't kidding :joy:

Signed up with Prolific. Looks potentially good. Not gonna set myself a target at this point, but may in the future.

Listed 9 items on ebay today. Have a bit of a love/hate relationship with selling on ebay. However, I have a charity bag full of (mostly) clothes that needs shifting so needs must. Will aim for a few items each week.

The Manwife™ did a top-up shop today. It's his birthday tomorrow and he has requested fish soup and crusty bread so I will pop into Tesc0 tomorrow on my way home from the opticians and pick up a bloomer or baguette.

Big Small has her college interview this evening - wish her luck!

Big Small is officially going to college come September! Been looking at the prices for bus travel although I don't think we'll be able to make a decision as to the most MSE option until she gets her timetable and knows which days she is going in. The college also have a travel reward scheme where you can have your travel costs reimbursed each half term if you have 100% attendance. Not sure how I feel about the ablism of that particular scheme, but nevertheless it may prove to be useful to us.

No new glasses needed thankfully, so just £25 on my eye test this aft.

Reading up on zero based budgeting and pay yourself first and feel like there may be further juggling going on in our budget. For now I'm going to eat some Ben and Jerries that I bought on 50% off last weekend :yum:

  • whoop whoop to the college news (she must be really pleased) and not having to get new glasses.

She is very pleased - really looking forward to it and I think she will flourish there

Washing on the line today and a second load in the machine. Not sure how dry they will get considering the temperature but still, it feels good to not be putting them straight back in to tumble dry. We have a washer-dryer and it's rubbish at drying - each load takes, on average, 6-9 hours to tumble dry :worried:

Made syrup sponge pudding last night for The Manwife™'s birthday. Made in the slow cooker using a new recipe and wow :open_mouth: it was exactly as syrup sponge is supposed to be - fluffy sponge and the syrup suffusing the whole thing.... we had it with custard obviously, and it was perfect :yum::love: can't wait to make it again.

One week left until the CC tickover. Spends seem largely within budget, except for vape juice for The Manwife™; his vape thingy is dying, which means it keeps having various issues that result in him having to refill it quicker than usual. I told him off for being over budget. He's already decided he's going to quit when it finally dies with no hope of recovery (he refuses to buy a new one), so I'm hanging on to that and hoping it dies sooner rather than later :joy:

Read the personal pension area of MSE in the past couple of weeks. Suggestion is that you take your age when you started saving, half it, and then put that percentage of your income away into your pension for the rest of your life. Still feels like a measly amount (entirely due to my low income) but I keep telling myself it's better than nothing!

Haven't started with my new client yet - complications have come up. Hoping things right themselves quickly.

Finally, I have a new (to me) pretty bra on today and my boobs are in heaven  if you also want heavenly boobs, check out Molke. I'm not on commission, I just think they're awesome  comfy boobs = perfect set up for a good day!

    • Changed my pension DD.

    • Raining on and off today so the remaining washing is cycling through the dryer. Some is hung about the house but we tend not to hang many things up because the damp makes my asthma flare up. Annoyingly, the dehumidifier doesn't help because it makes the air too dry

    • Small top up shop today to last us until Tuesday when I can do our weekly shop - assuming there's any food left with all the panic buying :no_mouth: Big Small is having her last tooth out tomorrow so that will be the last shop that I have to rearrange for a while. I have £10 off in Morris0ns More points so will use those. Next month (after the CC tickover) I am going to attempt to switch the main shop to Ald1 and see how that works out for us. There will still have to be certain things we buy from "mainstream" supermarkets but I'll give it a fair trial and see how it affects our food bills.

    • Caught up with ST:Picard having been lagging behind for a couple of weeks.

    • The Manwife™ went out yesterday for birthday drinks and, bless his friends, didn't pay for anything other than his bus fare into town :sunglasses: the rest of us ate homemade pie from the freezer.

    • Today's meal is pork casserole in the slow cooker - the veg for that was frozen in a dump bag a couple of months ago, plus meat from last week's shop.
