my daughter bought a used car last month and we have found there are faults . can we claim this is a breach of the consumers act and return car and end finance agreement?
the car was purchased on 2/12/19 - two week cooling off period passed
the steering was grinding so we took it to an independent garage whom found
n/s/f top mount worn (to be fixed required both mounts and suspension to be removed completely and replacements put in then whole suspension refitted (big job)
n/s/f tyre bald proving suspension broken at time of purchase as this takes time to occur
two rear bulbs blown and replaced
what would be best terminology to use when telling car giant we do not want the car and want finance cancelled (Motonovo)

It depends on the nature of the faults and how the vehicle was described.
What is the situation? And when exactly was it bought?
You might get more expert advice on the motoring or consumer rights boards.0 -
how do i move post to motoring and consumer rights boards
thank you:heartpuls:j:kisses3:0 -
bulbs are consumable items , can go anytime
why did you not check tyres before delivery
perhaps you should have took the car back to car giant for the suspension work under warrenty0 -

Surely the bulbs/tyre were apparent at the point of collection
For the steering/supension issue your description shows this as 'worn', not 'broken'
For further advice on whether these are reasonable reasons to reject you're going to need to give us an indication of car/age/cost/mileage and did it come with fresh MOT0 -

How much did your daughter pay for it?
How was it advertised (I mean specifically about condition, etc)?
If you've had the work actually done, I think you're in a difficult position because you needed to give cargiant the opportunity to inspect/fix before taking it elsewhere.
edited to add: tyres can be worn naturally through use, it won't necessarily be bald as a result of broken suspension. Did your daughter not notice the suspension was broken when she test-drove it? Or immediately as she drove it away?0 -
Take it back to the dealer and give them one chance to fix it, then you can reject the car.
Good lucks, I feel you will need all of it.0 -
The car is an audi A1 (104 FSI sport) , cost £8999 total hire purchase with interest £13279.80 repayable over five years
the reg is BF1 FGJ which i believe is 2015 making it four years old.
This car was sold as no faults and mechanically checked.
The fault was not mentioned at sale/ therefore it is not as sold. the fault is a major problem and repair to suspension. it has to preexist as the garage has said the closest tyre is bald already and faults like this will cause the tyre to ware quickly:heartpuls:j:kisses3:0 -
That reg doesn't exist according to the government. You've missed a number somewhere, before or after the 1. BF15 says it is a red Audi, which makes the vehicle almost 5 years old. (MOT due in March).
I suspect I've found the right vehicle because the last logbook date change was 11 Dec 2019.0 -
BF15 FGI sorry:heartpuls:j:kisses3:0

mileage is down as 40,000:heartpuls:j:kisses3:0
