Toto Energy Final Invoice

Options
Afternoon All,

Has anybody else had an issue with their final bill from Toto Energy?

I have read my meter at the end of each month, supplied the readings online; and been invoiced as such, with my account being in credit all of the time.

My final bill from Toto/EDF has an opening account position (meter reading) from July and I have then been charged the meter usage from August and September again, plus the kWh I actually do owe from October.

The kWh price Toto / EDF have used is also incorrect.

Check your final bills !! I am trying to call EDF to see what they say but I think I'm about £80 out of pocket.

Do not phone. Write, either via email or by post. Get a paper trail down of communications, and if (when) there is a problem, you have something to show to the Ombudsman.

I'm still waiting for my final bill, and fully expect it to be based more on fiction than fact. Already have old bills and a long chain of emails lined up to show what a pig's ear of a mess that the clowns (otherwise known as Toto) made of things.
Her courage will change the world.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.
  • Thank you,

    That's useful advice.

As it was I got two final bills: invoicing this, crediting that. All in all a right mess!

  • I too have received the final Toto statement. I don't agree with the figures so I contacted EDF. They just said that they must be correct, but eventually said somebody else would call me back. I was warned that it is highly unlikely they will revise the figures. I tried several times to switch from Toto before but each time Toto blocked the transfer (I had previously been switched from Solarplicity when they went bust and LoCo2 before them).

    Toto were crooks.

They will have calculated your final bill using a dearer penalty tariff for cancelling you DD.

They will not tell you this however, but hope you just accept their final figure calculation, and pay up.

The same happened to me, they demanded money when I was in fact in credit when I left them 7 weeks before they went bust.

I had always been well in credit, sent readings every month and paid by DD.

This, theoretically, should have been a straightforward refund of my money.

I had an almighty battle with them involving 2 hrs of phone calls over a month, they then brought in their "complaints specialist" and we exchanged a total of 16 emails, I had three separate lots of bailiff threats during this ie 3 x Bailiff threat letters, 3 x bailiff threat emails and 3 x bailiff threat texts.

They finally agreed they were in the wrong, agreed with me, agreed compensation all on the morning they went bust,

I spoke to EDF yesterday who assured me my money will be paid to me at the end of the month, some 5 months after I left Toto.

Turbojohnny you need to stick with it, you have the evidence, ie the tariff you accepted at the outset and the tariff they used to calculate.

Work out the exact sums, be sure of the amount they owe you.

if you are not getting anywhere with the main number EDF try this which I was given yesterday; 01273 917132. This is apparently EDF/Toto number.

Choose phone option which says 'being off supply' or 'without supply' or something very similar it is option 3 or 4,

Hang in there dude, you are in the right they are in the wrong.
  • EDF called back today. This time the person was actually listening to me. She left a message later on saying that she had now spoken to Toto and was virtually admitting that the final statement was wrong. She has also admitted that there have been other complaints. In my case there could be several hundred pounds in it! I suggest anyone receiving one of these statements takes a good look at it and puts in an official complaint to EDF if they suspect it might be wrong.

Toto will have defrauded many customers.

They have no morals or scruples.

They muddy the waters in the hope that lesser clients without the knowledge, or time, or figures to hand, will accept their chicanery and give up and just want to move on.

Many will innocently believe the company is honest and decent and pay up.

I spent many many hours pursuing my relatively small amount, probably six hours in total.

Many people just do not have the time or inclination to fight their corner - nor should they have to.
These smaller companies prey on that fact.

Many CEOs set out to defraud.

    Perhaps academic, but:

Loco2 changed their name to Solarplicity on 27 April 2017.

Toto Energy took on majority of Solarplicity customers before Solarplicity ceased to trade.

    :)
  • I too have received an email from EDF saying the handover account position must be correct, and asking me to confirm the meter reading.

The meter reading is correct, but the account credit that should have been sent over is not correct having charged for a couple of months twice, at the wrong rate.

I'll recalculate my account to what I think it should be and go back to EDF.

Thanks for the advice so far.

I have just had my 'final' Toto Bill. The first thing that hits me is the Daily Standing Charge (DSC). According to my initial email welcoming me to Toto, the DSC is identical for both gas and electricity of 22.05p per day. This should obviously mean that the gas and electricity DSC should be the same total. They are not! My Tariff was September Online E7 for Electricity and September Online Saver for gas. I gave up waiting on the phone and went to 'Live Chat'. I explained my issues and was told that it would be referred to the relevant department. Until then I need not pay the bill. I copied the chat in full and saved it for the future. One thing I noticed was that the cost of fuel is indeed cheaper with EDF than Toto but the DSC is greater by a few pence.
  • To update: After going round in circles with EDF customer services confirming meter readings, they have referred this a "specialist team" from whom I'm still waiting to hear.

I have sent them copies of my 3 last ToTo bills and a spreadsheet showing what I'm owed (about £60).  It clearly proves I have been overcharged on the daily standing charge and also on the kWh unit price on my final ToTo invoice.  My current price with EDF is also wrong, and although they did issue a message to say they know the price is wrong and they'll refund the difference, I have not seen anything yet.

In the meantime I have had several threatening letters from EDF because I hadn't paid my January invoice - I don't owe it as I had a credit on account.  The last letter said they'd send the bailiffs round and would also install a prepayment meter for which I'd be charged.  I gave in and paid; but this isn't over yet...…….
