Flybe 'at risk of collapse' EDIT 14/1 Government deal allows Flybe to continue to operate

What if my flight is with Air France (Fri 17th) and is fullfilled / code share with Flybe?
I assume my contract is with AF - will they need to honour it or??
If the expected happens then you'll still get to Paris - just unikely via the route/timings expected. I'm on a similar situation on 16th - outbound with AF but return on a Flybe operated flight (with AF ticket) - I know they'll get me home but they're not suddenly going to lay on another AF flight at the time of the original BE one.
As they're also KLM you may end up on either a later AF flight direct or retouted via AMS with KLM0 -
Thanks
Given we are going for a short break and have lots to see/do - then going via an indirect route or at a significantly different time wont "work" - hence (if they do fail) id want a refund and i will fly from another airport / carrier...could i insist they refund me?0 -

If flybe fails then whoever you booked through will offer you a refund or an alternative. You would have the right to reject the alternative if it wasn't similar enough to the original. I think an airport change or a change of a few hours is enough to trigger your right to reject the alternative.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. The only problem might be that if Flybe go under the price of similar flights by others will cost a lot more, well thats what happened when TC went under.0 -
non Flybe prices already increasing as of course people now shun flybe. The regional airports like Cardiff, Exeter, Soton have massive exposure and no alternatives eg id have to drive for 5 hrs to get the only flight ive seen on kayak approaching anything like the schedule and price i paid originally0

so the options are
1) hope they dont go into admin - do nothing for now
2) hope that if Flybe fail then AF provide an alternative that will be similar to the current flights..ie we need early Fri and late Sunday that are workable from Cardiff (eg not Southend etc)
3) Speculatively buy the only alternative (schedule and cost) for about £3000 -

1 or 3 are options - personally if you can recoup the other parts of the trip (either directly or via Travel Insurance) then I wouldn't go for 3 - Paris will always be there
You can mitigate for 2 - do some digging now and see if there is an alternative that works for you then approach AF and ask - bear in mind that they'll be covering their options at this stage but you might just strike lucky if a little less (or more) time in Paris with AF flights is available
That said given weather in January and French strikes this might be the least of your worries :rotfl:0 -
I used to use Flybe pretty regularly to go from Birmingham to Milan as it was the most convenient option. I had a flight booked last November which was eventually cancelled. I'd heard about the Virgin rebrand so just presumed it was to do with that.
There'll be no airlines left at Birmingham at this rate.0 -
flights from Bristol or Birmingham? Possibly Heathrow.
Or train to London and the Eurostar?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
