Flybe, Europe's biggest regional airline, was locked in survival talks on Sunday night less than a year after being bailed out by a Virgin Atlantic-led consortium.
Sky News can exclusively reveal that Flybe, which handles over half of Britain's domestic flights outside London, has been trying to secure additional financing amid mounting losses.
EY, the accountancy firm, has been put on standby to handle an administration of Flybe Group, according to aviation industry sources.

Goodness - this was not something I was expecting to read this morning!
I had thought and hoped that the troubles had ended for Flybe after the Virgin consortium came together last year.
I hope things get sorted out. Thoughts with all the staff this and to the passengers who rely on Flybe services from regional airports.0 -
Sadly it's a Thomas Cook scenario , all it's assets were sold to the consortium last year , losses have continued to mount , banks will no longer extend their borrowing.Ex forum ambassador

And still our airports talk of expansion. At this rate there'll be no airlines left to fly in and out of them!!How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 3.24% of current retirement "pot" (as at end December 2025)0

What if my flight is with Air France (Fri 17th) and is fullfilled / code share with Flybe?
I assume my contract is with AF - will they need to honour it or??0 -

It may be worth contacting Air France now, but as far as I know FlyBe are still operating and therefore there is probably little that Air France will do now unless and until that situation changes. There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, There is a rapture on the lonely shore, There is society, where none intrudes, By the deep sea, and music in its roar: I love not man the less, but Nature more...0 -
yeah - its a odd situation - i cant commit to buying other flights as it MIGHT not happen + im not clear on the AF position and what they may do - Grrrrr0

I have been on the Air France flight to Paris booked through FlyBe (assume you are going from Birmingham) - check in was through the Air France desk and the flight had an Air France flight number, so all Flybe are doing is passing the money on. If you have the tickets, you are on the flight.
I recently travelled on a Ryanair flight booked through Thomas Cook, exactly the same scenario, was no issue.0 -

I think a lot of people thought them same. However, a year ago, when the Virgin/Connect consortium took over, Flybe were reported to be in trouble and on the brink of collapse.
And not much has happened since. Flybe has more or less carried on as it did, with some tweaks here and there to the timetable, and some routes cut. But no drastic changes. If the airline was in such trouble 12 months ago, and the new owners haven’t changed much, then maybe it’s back to where it was before.0 -

Is your flight operated by AF or Flybe
There are 5 flights from Birmingham to Paris on Friday on the AF website all with AF flight numbers...3 are operated by AF and 2 are operated by Flybe but being sold as a codeshare
If Flybe were to stop operating then there would be 3 flights rather than 5.0 -

Flight is from Cardiff on Friday / back Sunday - birthday present for my daughters 16th to see Louvre, Dorsay etc
We have Hotel + Museum passes all paid independently - probably £500
