Simple question

Hi
Simple question:-
My son received a Trace debt recovery letter for a parking fine that was issued correctly when he used a car park without paying, and then ignored the letters (young driver and forgot about the 2 x letters that preceededit).

So my simple question is IS IT POSSIBLE TO PAY THE ORIGINAL £100 TO NCP once that DEBT RECOVER letter for £160 has gone out from TRACE.

I treid to pay on the NCP website once he told me about the Debt letter received today, but the PCN number does not exist on the NCP website presumably because the debt/fine has been passed to Trace.

Again my only question is - Is there anyway of just paying the £100 to NCP rather than £160 to Trace. I do not want to contest the fine, it was deserved, I just only want to pay the £100 fine.

Hoping someone on here can say if they have heard of this being successfully done and how they did it, ie email to NCP / Phone, or will I just get ignored.

We need to pay the fine, but i do not want to pay £160.

Thanks for helping.

    Simple answer - highly unlikely.

Why would ANYONE pay it? These are easy to beat.
I do not want to contest the fine, it was deserved, I just only want to pay the £100 fine.
Sorry to tell you but, as a Mum of four university student young adult (lovely and amazing!) kids, IMHO paying a scammer to make it go away, sets a really bad family example.

Be a role model. Don't fund scams for an easy life, it is not about paying them off.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Sorry but how do you know this? The parking company may not have permission from the landowner to issue 'fines', they may not have issued the correct paperwork on time, etc... There a many ways that this may not be deserved.

Far better to appeal and demand the parking company prove they have the right to demand money from your son.

It's not a "fine" it's a speculative invoice from a private company that farms money out of car parks just because it's easy money, they rely on drivers making mistakes or not conforming to their made up T&Cs.

He doesn't have a debt to the PPC unless a judge says so.

They won't accept a reduced payment the debt collection company are contracted on a no win no fee basis and want their chance to collect their part of the scam charge.
  • Do not be tempted to contact the debt collector - they are powerless.

Send a SAR to NCP to get all the info they hold.

In the meantime read the NEWBIES thread (one click back third thread down) to understand the game you have entered.

    Some very gullible people around
  • OK, it is an NCP car park well signposted that I park in regularly, and he knows the rules and didn't pay. I am the first one in any situation not to pay anything unless I feel it is just. It has been an NCP car park for years, so I don't see how he can say he didnt see the signs etc. etc., it is not some private car park in a village /small town etc., it is a high profile NCP car park in a large town. I setting an example to my son NOT to pay the debt collector but the original fine that was well deserved. If we try to wriggly out of it how would I expect my sons to ever obey rules and regulations. PLEASE can anyone advise if I can just pay the £100 to NCP and not hte £160 to the debt collector. Please answer but without flinging insults. Thank you.

I take offence, why am I gullible, my son parked without paying, what does it teach him if I say oh just ignore all that, dont pay it. Then he will end up in court possibly. Surely not a good lesson.

Yes, if it was a scummy bit of private land with dodgy signs, then yes ignore it, but it was clearly an NCP car park.

What am I missing here? The fine was deserved. Do you suggest I tell my son to lie and pretend it he didn't see obvious signs and make up some excuse to wriggly out of paying? Please advise!!
