This included an exasperating conversation with John Lewis’ trying to establish what their charges might be for delivery, installation and subsequent removal of the old machine - after 27 minutes into the call I hung up without making a purchase.

This is the bit I cannot understand, go to John Lewis website and dishwashers click on any dishwasher and it shows free mainland delivery, £25 connection and £20 dishwasher recycling, so why did it need a 27 minute call to them when it is clearly stated and shown on their website?

    Example - https://www.johnlewis.com/bosch-sms24aw01g-freestanding-dishwasher-white/p3218074

Edit - I see for some intergrated dishwashers it does say to contact them for installation fees, but is still states free delivery.
  • Thanks cajef

Apparenty I am not allowed to post links as a new user but would refer you to these machines on the JL site

    Take a look at . . . .

    bosch-smv68md02g-integrated-dishwasher

    bosch-smv50c10gb-integrated-dishwasher

    bosch-smv68td06g-integrated-dishwasher-with-home-connect-stainless-steel

As I said i was looking at Bosch machines - not all have the detail.

    How stressed are you?

    £25 stressed

    £100 stressed

    £500 stressed.

I also don’t understand how they messed up but in 5 days time you will be £25 or more better off and life will be back to normal.

Yes I think you are being over dramatic

Who knows what the answer is? Who really cares unless you get charged for it eventually.

Just donate the £25 to your favourite charity.
