  • Regardless of the practicalities of photographing an accident on the motorway, why would anybody want to do so? (Assuming they weren't involved in it).

OP - did you ask if the car had ever been in an accident?

They said that they have the paperwork form the PCP, where the previous user confirmed that the vehicle had not been involved in any accidents.

From the opening post. Not sure where you can go with it as the car would of been auctioned or traded to this dealer and sold to the OP.

Yes, one photo does - only the front one, but still clearly my car.

So the same registration number, or not? It's strange that you wouldn't say "It's the same reg" if it was.

The OP has said that supplying dealer sold the car originally to the first keeper.

Just the dealer pulling a one, they probably knew about the crash and did the repair. Was the car pulling to the damaged side when it went in for the 'warranty' work?

If the car was repaired then it wasn't damaged when you collected it.

If you have something in writing from the supplying dealer that the car has never been involved in an accident or previously repaired then I would agree you have been misled.

If you cannot drive it now then sell it, hopefully you can get enough back to clear the finance.

There is the car health check document, but it only says that there are no obvious signs of damage or repair; it's only a tick box document.

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. It's a series of photographs, but only the first photograph shows the front number plate, which is the same registration number as mine.

It was pulling to the opposite side. To be fair to them, they did the warranty work without question, and they did it again when it was still pulling. The guy who sold me the car looked utterly shocked when I showed him the photos, and he referred it to the manager. It was the manager who was so dismissive of me.
  • This sounds like such nonsense, it doesn't make sense. Your friend happened to take a photo of your crashed car before you bought it?

I reckon the dealership is onto something that you crashed it,

That's an interesting theory. It is an extraordinary coincidence that OP went for a coffee with a friend and the friend saw OP's car and immediately recognised the make, model and colour as being the same as one she happened to take photos of after a motorway crash which she also witnessed some time in the past. Then, OP's friend still has the photos on her phone and upon inspection, it turns out to be the exact same car that the OP bought.

It's possible of course, but quite the coincidence. Your theory is plausible.

Take it to a independent party and get it checked. Any repairs will be clear.
Also do another HPI as it may not have updated when you checked. But it could be that it was never reported to a insurance company.

    Just checked OP..
Update - the finance company are taking this over, as they're technically the owner of the car. Thank you to everyone who took the time to try and help.

Would have been better to add a new post with the info....
