I think the dealer is going to take the route that Facade has said - the repair means that it doesn't affect the value and I've suffered no quantifiable loss. The fact I wouldn't have bought it if I'd known it had been crashed, doesn't count for anything, nor does the fact I don't want to drive it now I know it's been crashed.
I can't see how you're "screwed", beyond your own concerns about the car, which have yet to be proven justified.0 -
Could your finance company help at all, technically it is their car.Life isn't about the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away. Like choking....0

Was the price you paid commensurate with that of a damaged/repaired car, or that of an undamaged car? (Taking into account age, mileage, service history). If you can prove this difference then you've been mislead by the dealer.
Also, the dealer is the "expert" - they're expected to know about such material facts. They don't have the option of saying "we didn't know about it" - they're expected to know about it and can't disclaim any liability due to their own failings.0 -

If you hadn't experienced what was a pretty extraordinary coincidence of your friend having been on the scene of an accident involving the very car you would later buy, and having photographic evidence of it (why?), you'd be none the wiser and perfectly happy driving around in the car.

I paid the price for an undamaged car and yes, I feel as though I've been misled. Was this a major pile-up which closed the motorway? Did she take photos of all the cars, or just the one you were going to buy?
Or did your friend stop on the hard shoulder and walk back to take photos on a live carriageway? Why?
I know you're trying to say that this is some sort of set up. It isn't, but there's nothing I can say that will convince you of that.0 -

If the car was repaired then it wasn't damaged when you collected it.
If you have something in writing from the supplying dealer that the car has never been involved in an accident or previously repaired then I would agree you have been misled.
If you cannot drive it now then sell it, hopefully you can get enough back to clear the finance.0
