  • Afternoon everyone
    TFI Friday :)

I use red lentils for the lentil casserole.

I just made a lovely lunch with a packet of tomato and green lentils with added fresh tomatoes and scrambled egg with avo on top.

I'm in the NW and it is sunny here :)

In money news, I applied for an American Express rewards credit card as I have been planning to do for a while.  I'll set it up to pay in full each month so it won't cost me anything, and I'll get a few pounds in cashback each year.  It also means I won't be using my overdraft except for a day or 2 a month and that will save me quite a bit in overdraft charges, so altogether, a good investment.

What I was absolutely gobsmacked at though was when I was accepted they gave me a credit limit of £12700!  That's a ridiculous limit to have!  I mean, it won't make any difference to me as I'm not using it for credit per se, but can you imagine the trouble someone could get into with a limit that size and the amount of interest you would be paying on it!  I don't think that's very financially responsible of Amex to be honest.  It all very well credit card companies writing to people and sating they need to pay more than their minimum each month, but what the point of that if they are handing out huge levels of credit willy nilly?!!
That’s a heck of an credit line! OH got similar with his AMEX - it’s like they are trying to get folk in trouble. but he is old skool cash only kind of guy 😅. Like you we got it to earn some cash back a couple years ago. We are doing similar with our years worth of Chase cash back this year which runs out in April. Hope another contender comes along before then.

That casserole recipe sounds like what do for lentil and tomato soup. I might try it with less water next time and see how it dues as a stew  :). I love lentils!

I popped into Tesco's on my dog walk this evening, and bought about 5 packets of own brand biscuits, a multipack of own brand crisps, a box of loose tea (up 65p I think!) and 4 bags of basic pasta. It came to 7 pounds something, and I had just remembered earlier that I had 8 pounds odd on a cashback card from when I switched broadband, so it was all free essentially  :D.

Hey @Elisheba it sounds like you’re doing a great job of having a good balance. I’m wondering if I need a heated hoodie.
