I’m so sorry that your cat is poorly and will be thinking of you regarding the trip to the vet.Leaving an area that you have been happy in is hard but hopefully some excitement about pastures new will take over once you are actually there. I don’t envy you the upheaval of moving though! It sounds as though your new stove is just suitable for burning wood and not the higher heat generated from fossil solid fuels. I also wouldn’t ask about your drying racks as the landlord’s concern appears to be specifically about hanging washing on the fixtures and fittings of the property. It’s great that the oil tank is already full; it has just cost £800 to fill mine.4

It's good that the removal company can pack for you as that will alleviate a lot of stress and if it's not that much higher in terms of costing, then it's a win-win. Moving at any time is always stressful, especially with little notice and at this time of year, so you're doing very well. xDebt Free Diary:- The Mental Debt Struggle

Hey Elisheba - good to see your plans falling into place. We had our removals firm pack our whole house up and it was the best £300 we ever spent. (That was how much more it was for them to pack
us up beyond the basic moving cost)Lancashire

Evening, make do and menders,
Well, it wasn't the best of news at the vets. My cats hyperthyroidism is back, and it's such a solid mass that it is causing her to retch all the time. She's not going to tolerate sedation for a biopsy, so my vet is speaking to the specialist who did her radioactive iodine treatment 4 years ago to see what the prognosis would be for any treatments. The question is even if it's not cancerous, would medication reduce the mass in size, and if not then I need to think about putting her to sleep sooner rather than later.
It's just so hard with pets that you love to know what the right thing to do is, or when the right time is. Hopefully I'll know more tomorrow, but my vet isn't sounding very hopeful, and when vets aren't throwing expensive options at you, you know it's not good.
The cleaner came around today to give an exact quote for the professional clean. Apparently because the utility is separate from the kitchen that'll add more on, and because my living room floor is tiled that'll add more as well. She's also going to give me a quote for fixing the 7 sides of door my dog has scratched, and advised me to find the right colour stain for them. Hopefully I'll hear back from them soon.
I got a third removals quote as well today. It came in a little cheaper, but I think I'm still going to go with the company who came round to my house. They didn't take a list of all items and talk to me about cubic metres, just gave me a fixed quote which I liked.
Still not heard back from the new landlord on the questions I sent via the estate agent, or with a copy of the tenancy signed by the new landlord. Think it's just a technicality at this point - both parties only have to have signed the day before the tenancy starts. It better be! I've handed my notice in, and given notice to the council tax, the water company and my energy company! I'll literally be in my car if there is any issue!
Other than that, spending wise I treated myself to a large chocolate bar and microwave Mac cheese yesterday after the misery of the vets. Had to buy some light bulbs for the kitchen as well and it's now looking like the Blackpool illuminations 🤣.
It just feels at the moment like I'm waiting around waiting for other people to do things they should be doing, that are important to me, but don't seem to be a priority to them, and that I have no control over. It's stressful and exhausting.
I need to keep reminding myself that in a month this will all be over. I'll be moved in and unpacked, and my new life whatever it looks like will have started. I'm holding on to the image of me being snuggled up in front of the wood stove, reading a good book and looking out to the hills.
I've found a drama group where I'm going, and messaged the local WI, so hopefully I'll meet some people. It won't be the same friendship group I've got here who survived the pandemic together, but these friends are only an hour and a half away so I can still see them.
I'm not sure if it's because I'm stressed but it's feeling awfully cold at the moment. I've got my electric fake fire on all day when I'm in my home office. It's quite good because it will come on and off depending on the temperature so it works out less than having the central heating on. The central heating is getting put on a night when I'm downstairs though, and I'm putting a sleeping bag ovér my lap!
I'm off now to try and catch up on some diaries. Hope everyone is having a good week.
Live the good life where you have been planted.

I’m sorry to hear that it isn’t better news from the vet. It sounds as though you both want to do what is best for her but it is all very heartbreaking for sure when our pets become elderly or unwell. Sending virtual hugs xxI hope that the paperwork gets signed soon and provides you with some reassurance.2
