Hi all
I have been looking at upgrading my iphone and wondering if the Apple Upgrade scheme is any good as I do like to change my phone every year or so. It seems too good to be true. So wanted to check if anyone has had any experience with it and or additional knowledge about the scheme.
Thanks

Hi, we move threads if we think they’ll get more help elsewhere (please read the forum rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board. If you have any questions about this policy please email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.
I’ve moved your thread from the ‘I wanna’ board to the ‘Mobile Phones’ board, where it is better suited.

If you can afford the monthly payments then go for it. Please remember your paying for apple care on top of the phone. So if you're not a person who drops their phone a lot then maybe you could save money by buying the phone outright with interest free credit. Also If you can be bothered with the hassle you could sell your phone privately after a year and put that towards a new iPhone instead of going through the upgrade program.
However as I said if you can afford the payments and like the convenience of just handing the phone back after a year and getting the latest phone then go for it.0 -
You don't have to have Apple Care.0

That’s not the upgrade programme but instead iPhone payments which is interest free credit.0 -
My iPhone SE will be 4 years old in May, still original battery and working fine. If you put your phone in a rubber edged case to protect against the inevitable drop, it should last at least 3 years. That’s much better value than swapping your phone every year.
My iPhone SE 64GB cost £439. If I throw it away in 4 months, it will have cost me the equivalent of just over £9 per month. The cheapest Apple phone on their upgrade scheme is £69 up front, then £40.45/month. That’s a lot (approx £1970 over 4 years)!
Apple will love customers who want a new phone every year... what is the point? You can also get a warm feeling by burning £20 notes :rotfl:0 -

Probably because they enjoy having a new phone every year as it gives them pleasure in different ways.
It’s could seem strange but it’s rather common for people to have different buying habits from each other :shocked:0 -

Correct but it’s not a forum or site that excludes products based on price.0
