Certainly a question to ask them if going ahead. It simply may be the last of a batch that were pre-registered.

They certainly have at least one other https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201910073054216
    That one's only October.

August makes some sense - get it reg before the September plate change.

Wasn't there a change to allowable emissions from 1st Sept which meant all remaining stock needed to be registered?

If you are happy with your current car I would be inclined to keep it. They don't want to be stuck with a car they can't sell and you don't want to pay more than you were told.

New car sales are currently at a seven year low. If they want to lose another by not honouring their deal I would let them.

Do this. I bought a Mazda6 new in Sept 2009 expecting to keep it maybe 6 years. I still have it and it's going strong at 173k miles and incredibly reliable.
