Need to top up my Revoult will Virgin Atlantic (Virgin money) charge me a fee

Need to travel abroad in the next few days, only CC I have 0% FX fee on has a very low limit. Making it a bit useless in an emergency situation.

I have the VA CC which is issued via Virgin Money. Does anyone know if they charge Cash Advance fee? I would ideally like to put £2.5k on the Revoult for an emergency situation. But ideally do not want to get charged a fat fee.

I regularly top up Revolut with the VACC and have not been charged a fee.

I've never tried topping up more than £800 at once. I would suggest splitting the top up into several smaller transactions. And you can top up while abroad. Just avoid doing currency conversions at the weekend when the markets are closed as you will pay a small supplement.

You can have several different currency accounts on a single Revolut card. Your transactions will come from the appropriate account.

I've never tried this myself, but I believe it you have insufficient funds held in the appropriate currency, they will charge the transaction you your Sterling account.

Revolut is brilliant especially when traveling through several different currency zones. No need to move unused balances back to Sterling. You can move them from one foreign currency to another.

You can also buy funds in advance and lock in a rate you are happy with.

ETA the weekend supplement is half a percent for most major currencies.

If you have never used your Revolut card before and suddenly start carrying out large transactions, you may have transactions blocked for a security check. Carry a spare card in case this happens! I built up my transactions slowly over time, and now put about £4k a month through Revolut without any problems.

If this is just in case of an emergency, why not wait until such an emergency actually arises and then top up if necessary?

Thanks for the tips, I’ll be in The Middle East. I just want to have the comfort if WW3 kicks off and I need to hire a car or book a flight out I have the money avaiable at hand.

I would have thought that for either of this things using the Virgin Atlantic credit card would have been the preferred option anyway? If the money is on the card that you have topped up, it wont be at hand. You will have to find a working ATM and withdraw it in cash surely, not to mention the problems of paying cash for an airline ticket and a car rental? Better to use the Virgin Atlantic credit card and get the rewards!
Congratulations on getting your new Virgin Atlantic credit card so quickly but I don't quite understand why there is no cash advance fee involved in using it to top up a prepaid card such as Revolut - doesn't seem quite right to me.

Curve and Revolut both code their transactions as "Financial Institutions - Merchandise and Services". Most CC providers treat these transactions as purchases.
